Thank you very much indeed for everybody who involved in making the spring concert successful!!! The members of the Japanese Singing Group really enjoyed singing supported by Ms Calyn Tsukishima. She also enjoyed singing at the concert. I am sure that two pianists, two guitarists and a cellist also really enjoyed their performances. The Japanese Singing Group is hosting the Spring Concert together with Edinburgh University Japanese Society on 28 May 2010, Friday. This concert is sponsored by AIHUA, Bonsai, Miso & Sushi, and すけっと(pronounced as skett) all based in Edinburgh.　

日本語合唱団は、エディンバラ大学ジャパニーズソサイティとともに、２０１０年５月２８日（金曜日）に春のコンサートを開きます。このコンサートは、エディンバラにあるAIHUA, 盆栽、Miso & Sushi、そしてすけっとによるスポンサーを受けています。

Edinburgh University Japanese Society

It is a recognised student society of Edinburgh University. It has two aims. One is to act as a conduit for students of Japanese, students of Japanese nationality and those with an interest in Japan to meet each other and form friedships. For this purpose weekly social meetings are held at a public house during term-time. The ohter is to act to hold monthly events for members, exploring aspects of Japanese culture. Its membership extends beyond students at Edinburgh University and includes non-studenst. 

エディンバラ大学ジャパニーズソサイティ

エディンバラ大学の認可された学生団体です。二つの目的があります。一つは、日本語を学んでいる学生、日本人、そして、日本に関心をもつ人々のためのパイプ役として働くことです。このため、学期中には、パブにて毎週、親睦のための集まりがもたれています。もう一つの目的は、メンバーのために毎月、日本文化の諸側面を探るイベントを持つことです。会員枠は、エディンバラ大学の学生以外にも開かれ、非学生も含まれています。 

Japanese Singing Group

It was organised last September by Atsuko Betchaku, who hopes to set up the Japanese Institute of Scotland. Since then it has already done 18 meetings. The group has so far 33 individuals who attended its meetings. Their nationalities include Chinese, Taiwanese, Korean, Malaysian, British, Spanish, French, Icelander, American, Canadian, and Japanese. Its meetings are conducted in English, and before singing each song, its historical background is explained and the lyrics are studied. The purposes of the group are firstly to introduce Japanese culture through songs and secondly to make a community beyond nationalities. The group has already performed in front of an audience for four occasions. 日本語合唱団

スコットランド日本会館の設立を願う別役厚子によって昨年の９月に組織されました。それ以来、すでに１８回の集まりを持っています。グループの集まりには、これまで、３3名のかたが参加されています。その方々の国籍は、中国人、台湾人、韓国人、マレーシア人、イギリス人、スペイン人、フランス人、アイスランド人、アメリカ人、カナダ人、日本人です。集まりは、英語で持たれ、おのおのの歌を歌う前には、その歴史的背景が説明され、歌詞を学習します。グループの目的は、第一に、歌を通して日本文化を紹介することであり、第二には、国籍を超えたコミュニティを作ることです。合唱団はすでに４回聴衆の前で歌っています。５月１５日のブログエントリーも参照ください。 

Hoping each audience to enjoy our songs which we would sing wishing to reach the bottom of her/his heart, we will consider historical relationships between Japan and Scotland and also Japanese society in different periods.  

聴衆のお一人お一人の、心の奥底に届くことを願って歌う私たちの歌を楽しんでいただきながら、日本とスコットランドの歴史的な関係を考えるとともに、さまざまな時期における日本社会をも考えます。

茶：　月嶋さんが日本語合唱団とともに歌われます。

Before each song is sung, the interpretation and the explanations of the song will be briefly given in English. 

おのおのの歌が歌われる前には、その歌の訳と説明が簡単に英語でされます。

Special Guest

We plan to have Ms Calyn Tsukishima, professional soul singer from Japan, who also writes and composes songs, as a guest. She has been supporting the Japanese Singing Group and arranged one song for us. Two English songs she covered in 2008 both ranked as the most downloaded songs in the UK. She used to live in London and currently stays in Vietnam.
