Background information

"Yell” is the debut song sung by male duo group, Kobukuro, was released in 2000. It was written by Kentaro Kobuchi who is one of the members and it was also a big hit as marketing the song with tie-in commercial. The lyrics are based on a letter which was given by his sister to him who decided to pursue his career as a musician, because he used to be the top sales staff in his company before making the decision. 

Interpretation of the lyrics

The lyrics entirely represent “The start” which encourages people who are on their departure, with the support of those close to them. Nevertheless, it would apply to all people who are in difficult circumstances because everybody is struggling with something which they want to overcome no matter how it is big or small. In this song, people are personified as “buds” and “flowers”. They sometimes fail to get results, everything goes wrong and they are overwhelmed with loss, but buds certainly come out as far as you endure the frozen winter until spring has come.
