Fourth singing group meeting 第4回合唱団の集まり

On the 28 October the Japanese Singing Group had its fourth meeting from 7pm at Edinburgh University's Alison House. Since the start of the singing group we had the biggest turn out yet with 7 newcomers bringing the number of singing group attendants to 17.

10月28日（木曜日）に、日本語合唱団の第4回の集まりが、エディンバラ大学、アリソン・ハウスで午後7時よりもたれました。これまでで最高の17名の方が参加してくださいました。そのうち、7名のかたは、新しい参加者でした。

At this meeting we first started off rehearsing "Kimio nosete'. As the rehearsals and meetings continue I feel the group is showing a lot of improvement from before. People's voices are getting better and the harmony is coming along very nicely. Afterwards we started practising a new song 'Shonen Jidai'. For this song we experimented by having the gents and ladies break into their respective groups to rehearse. On this day we also practiced by making one-to-one pairs and was very fruitful.

この集まりでは、まず、「君をのせて」の練習をしました。集まりと練習を重ねるにしたがって、以前よりもぐんと良くなり、声もよくでて、ハーモニーもうまくできたように思います。そのあと、新しい歌である、「少年時代」を練習しました。これは、男性グループ、女性二グループに分かれて歌うはじめての試みでした。今回は、一対一のペアになっての練習もとりいれ、とても充実したものでした。

After rehearsals were finished we went on to vote for songs we wanted to sing from the list of requested songs. Altogether there were 10 songs to choose from in which the most voted top 5 would be rehearsed by the group. Since there was a tie with two of the songs we decided on 6 songs altogether. 'Sakura' proved to be very popular with most people voting for it. The results are as shown below in order of popularity and scheduled to be practised in this order as well.

2nd : Sekai ni hitotsu dake no hana [The Only Flower in the World] (SMAP)

2nd : Sangatsu Kokonoka [March 9th] (Remioromen)

3rd : Tears (X Japan)

4th : Yell (Kobukuro)

4th : Ito [String] (Nakajima Miyuki/Bank Band)

また、これから歌いたい曲の選曲も、みなさんに手をあげてもらうかたちで行いました。10曲推薦されていた中から、5曲を選ぶ予定でしたが、同位のものがあったため、6曲を選びました。結果は以下の通りです。さくらは、ほとんどの人が選んだ、最も人気のある曲でした。上位のものから、順に練習をしていく予定です。

一位：　さくら　（森山直太朗）

二位：　世界に1つだけの花　（SMAP)

二位：　三月九日　（レミオロメン）

三位：　Tears　（X-Japan)

四位：　Yell~エール~　（コブクロ）

四位：　糸　（中島みゆき/Bank Band)

On 4 November the singing group will not meet. But the Film Group will commence with a showing of 'Tenku no Shiro Raputa" (otherwise more popularly known as 'Laputa: Castle in the Sky') by the director Mr Hayao Miyazaki. Before the showing members of the singing group will give a rendition of film's theme song 'Kimio nosete'. By all means everyone is more than welcome to come to the screening of 'Laputa: Castle in the Sky' and listen to our rendition of 'Kimio nosete'.

なお、11月4日（木曜日）は合唱団はお休みですが、同日に開かれる映画の会にて、宮崎駿監督による「天空の城ラピュタ」の上映前に「君をのせて」を歌うことになりました。よろしかったら、ぜひ映画とともに、私たちの歌も聞きにおいでてください！
