First performance of the singing group 合唱団の初演

Thanks to the invitation of Mr John Melvin, an organiser of the event entitled 'Sukottorando meets Japan', the Japanese Singing Group sang in front of an audience for the first time in 2010/2011 on Saturday, 16 October. I sincerely appreciate Mr Melvin's invitation to us.

「スコットランドと日本の出会い」と題されたイベントの企画者のお一人であるジョン・メルビンさんのご招待により、日本語合唱団は、10月16日（土曜日）、２０１０・１１年度はじめて、聴衆の前で歌いました。 メルビンさんのご招待に心よりのお礼を申し上げます。

We met at 11am on that day and practiced together 'Kimiwo nosete' and two more songs from the playlist at Spring Concert in May. Mr Shaun McCormack also accepted to sing a song solo. 

私たちは、その日午前11時に会い、「君をのせて」と、5月の春のコンサートの演目から、さらに二つの歌を練習しました。ショーン・マコーマックさんは、また、ソロで一曲歌うことを、受け入れてくださいました。

Our singing started at 1.30pm. We sang Furusato, Kimiwo nosete, Ye Banks and Braes (sung solo), and Auld Lang Syne/Hotaruno hikari. Ms Ayako Suzuki, a member of the group, accompanied Kimiwo nosete with the piano.

私たちの歌は午後1時半にはじまり、故郷、君をのせて、Ye Banks and Braes（独唱）、そしてAuld Lang Syne/蛍の光を歌いました。君をのせてについては、メンバーの一人、鈴木絢子さんが、ピアノ伴奏をしてくださいました。

Each song's general background was explained by me (Atsuko Betchaku), and this was followed by a member's introduction of the meaning of the lyrics. We enjoyed singing there and got a good reception. Mr Masataka Tarahara, the Consul-General of Japan in Edinburgh, came to talk to us after our singing and encouraged us to increase our repertoire and to do more practices. I really appreciate Mr Tarahara's warm words to us. Finally, Mr Scott McKenzie took photos of our performance. Thank you very much indeed! I have put some photos below. Please look at them!　

おのおのの歌の一般的な背景を、私(別役厚子）が説明し、その歌詞の意味は、メンバーによって紹介されました。私たちは、歌うのを楽しみ、積極的な反応をいただきました。私たちの歌の後、田良原政隆在エディンバラ日本国総領事が、私たちのところに話に来てくださり、曲目を増やすよう、そして、さらなる練習をと、私たちを励ましてくださいました。田良原総領事のあたたかいお言葉に本当に感謝いたします。最後に、スコット・マッケンジーさんが私たちのパフォーマンスの写真をとってくださいました。どうもありがとうございました！いくつかの写真を以下に掲載しましたので、どうぞご覧ください！
