Meeting with Ms Tsukishima in London ロンドンで月嶋さんと会う

I met Ms Calyn Tsukishima in London on 6 July before her moving to Vietnum. Mr Jamie Duck, a member of the Japanese Singing Group who happened to be at his home near London, and Ms Kuniko Kamioka, a Japanese professional photographer, who kindly provided me one night stay at her flat in London, also joined in the meeting.

私は月嶋カリンさんと、７月６日、月嶋さんがベトナムに移動する前にお会いしました。たまたまロンドン近くの実家に帰っておられた日本語合唱団のメンバーであるジェイミー・ダックさんと、親切にもロンドンで私を一晩、フラットにとめてくださった日本人のプロの写真家である神岡邦子さんも集まりには参加されました。

Ms Tsukishima came to Edinburgh for the concert held on 28 May hosted by the Edinburgh University Japanese Society and the Japanese Singing Group at the Reid Concert Hall at the University of Edinburgh. At the concert she sang solo and sang also with the Japanese Singing Group. She stayed in London after that.

月嶋さんは、エディンバラ大学ジャパニーズソサイティと日本語合唱団によって５月２８日にもたれたエディンバラ大学のリードコンサートホールでのコンサートのため、エディンバラに来てくださっていました。コンサートでは、月嶋さんはソロで、また、日本語合唱団とともに歌ってくださいました。その後は、ロンドンに滞在しておられました。

After the concert I suggested Ms Tsukishima hopefully to see her in London. But I was not sure how this could be realised. Fortunately I actually started feeling a necessity to visit London for my own research. Thus I thought if I can do my research in addition to meeting Ms Tsukishima while staying in London, it is a good chance visiting London  even considering my finantial difficulties. 

コンサートのあと、ロンドンでお会いできればと私は、月嶋さんにご提案していました。ですが、どのように実現できるのか確かではありませんでした。幸運なことに、実際私は、私自身の研究のためロンドンを訪問する必要を感じ始めていました。こうしてもし、ロンドンに滞在している間に月嶋さんに会うことに加えて、研究調査ができるのであれば、財政的な困難を考えてもロンドン訪問のよい機会だと思いました。

This happens to have coincided with Mr Duck's visit to his home and Ms Kamioka kindly offerred her flat for my stay in London. Ms Kamioka is a council member of the Japanese Residential Association in UK (http://195.12.48.80/~jra/staging/) and I met her in September last year when I attended its council meeting. Since she is a professional 　photographer, I asked her to join the meeting and to take photos of us.

これはダックさんの彼の実家への帰省とたまたま重なり、また神岡さんは親切にもロンドンの彼女のフラットに私を泊めてくださいました。神岡さんは英国日本人会(http://195.12.48.80/~jra/staging/)の理事のお一人でいらっしゃり、昨年９月に、理事会に参加させていただいた際にお目にかかっていました。プロの写真家でいらっしゃるということで、私は月嶋さんとダックさんとの集まりに一緒に参加して、私たちの写真を取っていただけないかとお願いしたのでした。

We met at Piccadilly Circus and after having lunch at 'Taro', Japanese noodle sushi bar, in Soho, we moved to a Karaoke shop, Epoc, which is in Adanami Shobo. We sang there for an hour. Ms Kamioka took photos of us all through this meeting. Her photos really well capture some moments where we were candid, as Mr Duck considers them. Helped by both Ms Tsukishima and Mr Duck choosing photos and with permission of Ms Kuniko Kamioka, I have put some photos below.  

私たちは、ピカデリーサーカスで会い、ソーホーにある、「太郎」という、日本食ヌードル寿司バーで昼食をとったあと、徒波書房内のカラオケ屋、エポックに移動しました。一時間そこで歌いました。神岡さんはこの集まりの間中、私たちの写真をとってくださいました。神岡さんの写真は、ダックさんも同様に感じているようでしたが、私たちがポーズをとっていないいくつかの瞬間を本当にうまく捉まえています。写真を選ぶのを月嶋さんとダックさんのお二人に助けていただき、また神岡邦子さんの許可をいただき、以下にいくつかの写真を掲載しています。
