On the film 'Kill Bill' 映画「キル・ビル」について

I have watched a film 'Kill Bill' vol.1 & vol.2 on DVDs!

 「キル・ビル」という映画のvol.1とvol.2をDVDで見ました！

The original film (vol.1) was screened from 10 October 2003 in the US and from 25 October 2003 in Japan. Then in 2004 vol.2 followed (based on Wilipedia). This is a story of an American woman who decided to revenge the fact her ordinary life was destroyed despite her wish to get rid of her past as a member of a professional assasin group.

この元の映画（第一編）はアメリカで２００３年１０月１０日から、日本では１０月２５日から上映されました。そして２００４年に第二編が出ました（Wikipediaによる）。これは、ある暗殺を専門とするグループの一員としての過去から逃れようとしたにもかかわらず、それを破壊されたことへの復讐を決意したアメリカ人女性の物語です。

I felt very difficult watching scenes of killing in particular those of the sadistic killing in both vol.1 and vol.2. If I had not borrowed these DVDs from a friend who likes this film and also had not hoped to consider this film well I might not have continued watching it. In particular, vol.1 only tells the audiences that the main character's purpose is to kill everybody who committed the massacre in her wedding rehearsal.

殺しのシーン、とりわけ第一編・第二編ともに加虐的な殺しのシーンを見るのは、大変に困難を感じました。もし、このDVDをこの映画が好きな友人から借りたのでなければ、またこの映画についてしっかり考えてみたい、という思いが私になかったとしたら、私は見続けなかったかもしれません。とりわけ第一編では、観客には、主人公の目的は、彼女のウェディングのリハーサルでの虐殺に手を貸したすべての人を殺すことなのだということが伝えられるだけなのです。 

She obtained as her weapon for revenge a Japanese sword made by a traditional Japanese sword maker who lives in Okinawa. Although he stopped making a sword for a long years since he did not want to make a weapon to kill others, he creates one

specially for her. She mastered using a Japanese sword and seems to have absorbed 'the spirit of samurai'. 

彼女は、彼女の復讐の武器として沖縄に住んでいるある伝統的な日本刀作りの師から日本刀を手に入れます。他人を殺す武器を作りたくなかったがゆえに長い間、刀を作ることをやめていた彼ですが、彼女のために特別に刀を作ります。彼女は、日本刀を使うことをマスターし、「侍の精神」を自分のものにしたようです。

After watching vol.1, I considered this film was for supporting Japan to send its self-defence force to the Iraq war which started as a revenge. In March 2003 the US and Britain started invading Iraq. Then in July Japan decided to send its self-defence force to Iraq. When the film was releaved in October, there should have been still some kind of unaccetable feeling against the decision. Since this was considered as the first sending of the self-defence force to an area where real fighting was going after the Japanese Constitution was created. Its article 9 declares not to use military power as a means to solve international conflict. 

第一編を見たあと、思ったのは、この映画は、ある種の復讐として開始されたイラク戦争に対し、自衛隊を送る日本を支援するためのものだったのではないかということでした。２００３年３月、アメリカとイギリスは、イラク侵攻を開始しました。そして７月には、日本は、イラクへ自衛隊を送ることを決めました。映画が１０月に封切りされたときには、まだ、この決定に対してのある受け入れがたい感覚があったのではないでしょうか。というのは、これは、日本国憲法が作られて後はじめての戦闘地域への自衛隊の派遣だと考えられたからでした。憲法の９条は、国際的紛争の解決の手段として軍事力を使わないことを宣言しています。 

In fact in March around 10,000 soldiers and officers based in US military bases located in Japan seem to have been sent to the  Iraq war. The fact that many US bases are located in Okinawa and that Japan supports the US military really resembles that of that the Japanaese sword  the main character obtained was made in Okinawa.

実際、３月には、約１万の在日アメリカ軍の兵隊・将兵がイラク戦争へと送られたようです。沖縄には多くの米軍基地があり、日本がアメリカ軍を支えているという事実が、映画でアメリカ人の主人公が手に入れた日本刀が沖縄で作られたという事実と、大変似通っているように思えました。
