On the film 'Memoirs of a Geisha' 映画「SAYURI」について

Today I watched a film entitled 'Memoirs of a Geisha' on a DVD. It won three Oscars in 2006.

今日、DVDで「SAYURI(日本名）」という映画を見ました。この映画は、２００６年に3つのオスカーを獲得しています。

Honestly saying, after watching this film what I felt was that I don't want to wear kimono.  Since this is a well made film, I felt so depressed by the image of a 'geisha' in this film. By watching this film, people would consider a 'geisha' is in reality a type of prostitute. But Ms Mineko Iwasaki, who used to be a 'geisha', criticises that this is a distortion of the reality.

正直なところ、この映画を見終わって私が思ったのは、着物を着たくない、ということでした。映画としてうまくできているだけに、私は、この映画の「芸者」のイメージに、かなり憂鬱な気分になりました。この映画を見る人々は、事実として、「芸者」は一種の売春婦だと思うでしょう。ですが、かつて「芸者」であった、岩崎峰子さんはこれは、現実の歪曲だと批判されています。
