この歌「風」が日本で大ヒットした１９６９年は、学生運動が広まった年でした。

The young were not content with the condition of the society. This song says that everybody goes on a journey alone. Even if you think about hometown, the wind is just blowing. The message seems to be that you have to make your own road by yourself without depending on the past which would probably be represented by hometown.
