The first session of the English Classes 英語クラスの一回目

The first session of the English Classes for Japanese speakers was held on 30 October from 5pm at the Tollcross Community Centre.

日本語話者のための英語クラスの最初の回がTollcross Community Centreで、１０月３０日の午後５時から持たれました。

On this day there were only three attendants, including me as an observer. The contents of the class was very well prepared and attendants undertook given tasks very positively.  

この日には、オブザーバーとしての私を含んで、三人のみの参加者でした。ですが、授業の内容はとても丁寧に準備され、参加者も活発に与えられた課題に取り組んでいました。 

The following comments are from the attendants:

• I think this is a really good way of studying English. I felt I should practice pronunciation. (Mr Kotaro Hamada).
• The effective way of improving English (Ms Okumura)
• I felt excited what the teacher would do next (Mr Hamada).
• It was interesting how many words a person can read in a minute was shown. I would like to try learning methods using this.

The following is the comment by Mr Miura, the teacher:

• Although this was the first session, I felt attendants' earnest willness to improve English since they positively participated pronunciation exercises and listening tasks. I would like quickly to encourage them to speak loudly. I will provide tasks to make a memory cycle in English. I hope many people join the next session. Attendants who just drop in without prior notice are welcome.

•  初回ではありましたが、Pronunciation exercise, listening taskに積極的に参加している姿を見て、とてもやる気を感じました。どんどん声を出してもらえるように働きかけていきたいと思います。次回も英語の記憶回路を造るようなタスクをしますのでどんどん参加して下さい。飛び入りも歓迎します。

It was easy to see how hard Mr Miura prepared for the class and I thought the attendants also quickly appreciated this. He told me that he improved his English using resources available on the internet and would recommend attendants which materials are good based on his own experiences when the classes progress. I hope more people could attend the classes! The next session is held on 6 November, Friday, from 5pm at the Tollcross Community Centre. This is the second trial class. The charge is £1.  I would be glad if many people could attend the next class. Please see 'English classes' for further details.

三浦さんが、このクラスのためにどれだけ熱心に準備されたかは簡単に見て取れ、参加者もこの真価をすばやく認識することができたように思えました。三浦さんは、ご自身の英語をインターネットで手に入るものを使って、上達させたということでした。クラスが進むなかで、ご自身の経験に基づいて、どのような教材がいいのかも、参加者のかたに推薦していくおつもりとのことでした。クラスに参加してくださる方が、さらに増えることを願っています！次回は、１１月６日（金曜日）５時から、同じく、Tollcross Community Centreで開かれます。お試し期間の二回目になります。１ポンドでご参加いただけますので、ぜひたくさんの方にご参加いただけると嬉しいです。詳しくは、「英語のクラス」をご覧ください。
